Plate Frames

A custom license plate holder can really help you to express who you are to anyone who happens to be driving immediately behind your car, truck, or motorcycle. I know people who think that getting chrome license plate holders, spinners, cute bumper stickers, or fuzzy dice mean that you are a bit of an idiot with no originality, desperately clinging to any method which might provide a substitute for an authentic creative outlet, but this is not the case. I know, because I have used license plate frames for years, and I am one of the most creative and original people that I know. I mean think about it. If you have something to say, should you keep it to yourself, or find a license plate holder that says it for you, and in cute bubbly printing too? I don't know about you, but I have too much inside me to really keep it to myself, and the clever sayings on my t-shirts, my extensive collection of key chains and bottle openers, and the elegant expressions of my license plate holder (not to mention my custom license plate 2kool1324) really give me a way to shine at my full potential.

I first got a custom license plate holder a few years ago, before I made it big off of e-commerce. Back then, I was driving a junker Toyota, and could barely afford the duct tape to hold it together. I decided, what they hey, I might as well splurge on something to spruce it up and to show off my spiffy sense of humor. I got a license plate holder in fancy rococo design with those curly letters which said, quite elegantly, My other car is a pile of rust. People thought that it was so funny that they stopped breaking in and stealing my radio (I had lost three radios up to that point.) It showed me something that expressing yourself not only helps you to feel better, but makes other people more likely to like you as well. Despite the decrepitude of my car, I feel like I got more respect from that point on, largely because of my license plate holder. And if a nice license plate holder can do that on an old junker Toyota, just imagine what it has done to spiff up the BMW that I now drive. It looks fabulous, no doubt of that.

Plastic Picture Frames

One of the most beautiful ways to frame a photo is with a hand-made picture frame put together from natural materials. Eco-friendly frames and albums made from materials like bark, leaves, and even flowers, and imported from countries like Indonesia, are gaining popularity here in the US. These frames are hand made and as well as being beautiful are made from materials that do not harm the environment. If you are looking for a framing solution for your cherished photos, an imported frame like one of these is an ideal solution. If you are looking for an album to store a collection of pictures in, a hand-made album is also a great choice.

The unique designs of these individually-made frames and albums are created by artists from different countries who still create their art using techniques and materials that have been around for thousands of years. Imported frames and albums made in countries like Indonesia are made of dried tropical leaves from plants including bamboo, hibiscus, lilies, banana, and lotus. Grass, twigs, seed pods, coconut shells, rice paper, seashells, and a other organic materials are also used to make these distinctive frames and albums. Natural materials like these add an exotic flair to the products they are used in and frames and albums from sources like these will reflect their tropical inspiration.

Unlike modern picture frames and albums sold in retail stores, hand-made ones contain eco-friendly materials from non-endangered renewable plants. The materials are not processed or artificial and everything that goes into a hand-made frame or album is natural. This means that if you choose a hand-crafted frame or album to display your photos you can rest assured that you are not contributing to the destruction of the environment. Because all the materials contained in these products are natural, your hand made frames and albums will reflect the beauty of nature.

Hand-made frames and albums also add an exotic flair to any decor. Because all the materials originate from the tropics, a picture frame or photo album made by artists will truly be unique. No machine-made frame can ever compare to the character and style of a hand-made frame. Each frame or album is unique and reflects the various textures of the materials used to create it. No two frames or albums are ever exactly the same because of their hand-made nature and the naturally occurring differences in the materials themselves. If you are looking for a distinctive frame for your special photo, a hand made frame from Indonesia or other natural source is an excellent choice.

Supporting artisans, the environment, and displaying your photos in a unique way is simple if you choose a hand-made frame. Like hand-made frames, hand-made albums are another great way to showcase your photos with a distinctively exotic flair. The design possibilities are endless and you can find something to match any photo and decor. If you aren’t looking for another dull frame from a big box store, a hand-made frame or album is for you.

Plastic Poster Frames

Posters make great collectibles but unless they are looked after, the collectible value decreases considerably. You may have a poster from a concert of your favorite rock band, a special movie poster or you have found an advertising poster from years ago that has been well kept.

No matter what type of poster your prefer, they all need to be protected as they are can be damaged so very easily. A plastic poster frame is a good way to do this.

Protection

Not all posters are made from the same quality material. When posters were first introduced as a way of advertising, they were only meant to last for a short time, could be a few weeks or a few days. That they have lasted as long as some of the antique ones have, is quite amazing and says a lot for the quality of the workmanship form years gone by.

There are many things that will decrease the value of a poster, things like creases, exposure to moisture, slight tears or the edges being damaged. Lamination will decrease the value of a poster also, some people have thought by laminating their posters, they are protecting them and yes they were but only for their own use.

The way to protect your poster is with a poster frame. There are many types of poster frames, a really good one and one that is also inexpensive is the plastic poster frame. Your poster will stand the test of time in a plastic poster frame, no dust, no moisture and no worry about creases or damage in any way.

Beauty

Your plastic poster frame will display your poster beautifully. Don't let the work plastic put you off. They do amazing things with plastic these days. There are different styles to choose from.

The plastic poster frames are durable and make hanging a poster so easy. Most frames have mitered sections that grip firmly and then can pull apart and slide off for easy changing of your poster if you decide to re-arrange your art work.

These poster frames have a clear protective front sheet with a hardboard or cardboard backing for the mounting and also a hanging system so you can display your poster either vertical or horizontal. They come assembled, so no worries there.

If you purchase your posters online, then the online stores will have a range of plastic poster frames for you to choose from and can easily mount your poster for you. You should also find the local store that sells posters will have a range of poster frames also and if not there are many framing stores that do have the plastic poster frames in stock.

For the poster collector, the plastic poster frame is a great find, it allows you to protect your posters, allows them to increase in value and at the same time, allows you to enjoy viewing them on the walls of your home. It is a simple, an easy and a reasonably priced solution for poster protecting.

Pitcher Frames

Softball Conditioning is a very important aspect of training as it helps enhance the execution of softball skills.

Many softball players don't take it seriously enough and they should definitely emphasize it more because they will pay the price down the road.

Many softball drills that can include a conditioning component that will improve both the skills and the fitness levels of fastpitch softball players. Here are several excellent drills:

Drill 1 - Five-Ball Drill

Purpose: To practice footwork and releasing the ball quickly for the throw. There is an intense conditioning element that is a part of this drill for infielders.

Procedure: This drill can be used with any of the infielders in a lot of different situations. Place 5 different softballs in a row in a space where that fielder is likely to field them. Do this for each position. A good example is, to help the third baseman practice fielding bunts, set up five balls in a line extending from the foul line toward the pitcher's mound which is around 10 feet away from home plate, where the fielder would pick them up for a bunt. The third baseman starts in her normal ready position and depth, then runs to surround the first ball and throws it to first. She then runs back to her starting position and quickly turns back to field the next ball. You must continue until the defensive player has thrown all 5 balls. Place the balls in similar areas for the first baseman and catcher. For middle infielders, place the balls to one side of each player and have them practice their throws to each of the bases. With balls placed all over the place, you want each player to field and throw 2 sets of 5 balls each.

Drill 2 - Run the Ball to First

Purpose: This drill for softball pitchers is to recognize when to run the ball and toss it to first base instead of throwing it to first base. This is a skill that's normally used when no one is on base, and the batter's not a slapper.

Procedure: The pitchers line up at mound area. The instructor positions himself at home plate while another player or pitcher catches the throws at first. The pitcher starts with a windup without a ball, and the fungoer hits balls directly at the pitcher or to the first base side of the mound. When the ball is hit hard right back to the pitcher and no one is on base, the pitcher has time to run toward first base and toss it to the first baseman. She fields the ball first, then turns and runs toward first base. At the same times, she takes the ball out of her glove with the palm of her hand behind the ball. When the pitcher gets a few feet from first base, she tosses the ball underhand to the first base receiver. Hit 10-15 balls at each pitcher.

Drill 3 - Blocking Balls

Purpose: To improve blocking pitches thrown in the dirt or that are low. This is a key skill drill for catchers, with the benefit of providing a good conditioning element as well.

Procedure: Catchers can work with another catcher or a coach serving as a tosser. The catcher, in full gear, starts in the ready position for receiving a pitch. The tosser stands around 20 feet in front of her. The tosser begins by throwing a ball in the dirt (or on ground if working inside) directly at the catcher. The catcher should drop to both knees as her glove drops, palms up, directly between her legs. At the same time, she should drop the chin to the chest and round the shoulders, creating an enclosure. The ball should always stay in front of the catcher. Each catcher blocks two sets of 5 or 10 balls.

Drill 4 - Ten-Ball Drill

Purpose: To improve concentration and practice higher repetitions in fielding fly balls. This drill also supplies a strong conditioning element.

Procedure: One outfielder is up at a time in any space that's free. A coach or player hitting or tossing balls faces the fielder. The hitter has a minimum of 10 balls ready. Another player is helpful to hand the fungoer the balls; the other outfielders waiting for their turns can be used in this role. Hit fly balls to a fielder in succession, giving the fielder just enough time to catch the ball and toss it out the way immediately before fielding the next hit. Hit a combination of short, easy fly balls and long fly balls to both sides of the fielder. The fielder gets 10 consecutive balls and then players have to switch. Do two sets of 10 for each player.

Drill 5 - Fielding Batting Practice

Purpose: To get a defensive, gamelike workout in a routine batting practice. This drill also provides baserunning practice and conditioning for runners.

Procedure: Place a defensive team in the field and have a pitcher pitch to one or more hitters at the plate. The defense plays out all hits just like they would if it were a game. Have the runners on bases as desired, and have base runners run as if they would in an actual game, practicing their baserunning at the same time. Continue until all of the hitters have batted, switching with the fielders if desired.

Taking pictures of your new baby is a great way to preserve life long memories. Baby pictures can also make great postcards, keepsakes, or baby shower gifts. Here are some simple tips to get great baby pictures:

1) Avoid bright light - Babies are especially sensitive to bright light including harsh sunlight and flash photography. If possible, try to take photos during the day when flash photography is not necessary. You can also use lamps to create lighting.

2) Take pictures from different distances - Try to take pictures from different distances. Most people like to take close-up pictures, but pictures that are too close can be blurry and out of focus. By taking several pictures from different distances, you can keep the ones that are the best.

3) Be aware of your baby's mood - Try not to start a photo session when your baby is cranky or crying. If your baby is in a bad mood, then wait awhile until he or she is better rested or calmed. You will get better pictures when your baby is in good spirits.

4) Use a high quality camera and film - This tip may seem simple, but is worth saying. Using high quality cameras and film can make a big difference in the quality of the photo, especially if you are creating photo gifts or favors.

5) Get rid of any distractions - Make sure there are not too many distractions when taking pictures. Anything that moves or makes noise, like the TV, should be turned off is possible. Having too many people around can also be distracting for the baby.

6) Take multiple shots - Taking different shots is a good idea for any type of photography, particularly if you are making photo gifts. Sometimes it is hard to tell if a shot will turn out good until it is actually produced, so get those extra shots just in case.

7) Background - Make sure that there is not too much distracting stuff in the background. The focus should be on the baby, so plain backgrounds usually work best.

8) Other people - Try taking pictures of the baby with other people as well, including you. A baby will interact with other people and these interactions captured on film can make great keepsakes.

Picture Framing Supplies

Ive always said decorating is an art form. Nothing decorates your home like art, especially pictures adorned in beautiful custom picture frames. However, it isnt as simple as picking out any picture frames and hanging them up. Choosing the right frame and picture framing supplies greatly increases the overall look of the picture itself and works to complement the feel of the entire room.

A framed piece of art is built around of several components. Obviously, there is the art, the frame, the pre cut mat board, the external surface placed over the art work to protect it, mount board, and everything that comes in picture framing kits. Of all these, the picture frames are the most important and the most straightforward, being manufactured in either wood or metal and installation is a snap with picture framing kits.
Hanging those pieces of art or even an everyday picture can be a real challenge. The first thing you need to do is know that there are two parts to the picture frame hanging process. There is the mounting hardware on the frame itself, and then mounting the frame on the wall. My advice is purchase picture framing kits. They make life much easier.

There are a number of different options to choose from for picture framing supplies. The one you go with depends upon several variables, such as the size and weight of the picture, the material of the frame, and the surface you wish to hang the picture on.
The pre cut mat board is used for primarily for two reasons. Firstly, it serves as a support for the picture frames, preventing them from getting damaged through bending and folding. It also creates a layer of separation layer between the picture and the glazing so that nothing is directly in contact with it. The majority of framed art pieces come with a single mat layer and a mount board as part of a picture framing kits. You can choose to use double, even triple mat layers.
When it comes to picking out a color for the mat, I recommend going with more neutral color, such as your whites, creams, ivories, sandstones, pearls, grays and blacks. I like neutral colors since they tend to enhance and guide the attention to the picture. Neutral colors can easily fit into any room, as well, with never a worry about them seeming out of place.

Above all, remember to have fun and enjoy yourself when decorating. There is no point in doing if you arent enjoying it. In my opinion, decorating your home with custom picture frames is one of the easiest ways to beautify your home in a warm and personal manner.

Shooting with a camera and adjusting the settings manually can be an intimidating task to the new photographer. Veterans of the craft will no doubt remember pictures that they ruined by reading the light wrong, or the irreplaceable moments in time lost behind a lens cap. As photographers our job is to be the conductor to a symphony of moving components, gently influencing each element to ensure that the end result is more than just the sum of the parts.

Without understanding the elements of photography individually, it is impossible to understand how they relate to the whole. So, lets start looking at the inner workings of our images with one of the most unfamiliar subjects: Aperture.

Defining Aperture

Aperture is simply what controls how much light is exposed to your film (or your digital camera's sensor). It can be opened and closed using your camera's F-Stop on your camera which is usually found on the ring around your lens between the body of the camera and the focus ring. If you've ever looked into someone's eye as light was shone into it, you have a pretty good idea of what the aperture does - it works just like a pupil.

Most cameras have an F-Stop range of 1.7/2.0 to 22 or so; the range of values usually increase with the cost and quality of the camera. By looking at the numbers around your lens, you can see your camera's range. Lower F-Stops expose the film to more light and are more open while high F-Stops shut the light out by closing down the aperture.

How Aperture Impacts Images

Using your F-Stop to purposefully manipulate the aperture of your camera will allow you to change the depth of field shown in your photographs. If you don't know what "depth of field" is, it describes how much of your image is blurry and how much is sharp. Aperture directly affects the amount of time a frame is exposed; the longer the film (or sensor) has to absorb information, the greater the depth and clarity of the image.

For instance, if you were to take a photograph of a line of dominoes from one end using a low F-Stop number (an open aperture), you would probably see one or two dominoes clearly and the background ones as blurry. Open apertures create a shallow depth of field. If you were to then take the same photograph with a high F-Stop (a closed aperture), you would see many more dominoes clearly down the line and get a much greater sense of how far away they might be.

Fun Aperture Experiments

Playing with the aperture on your camera can be great fun once you have a bearing on what it does. Here's a couple of ideas to try the next time you're out shooting and you want to test it out:

1) Take every photograph twice - once at a high F-Stop, and once at a low F-Stop.

2) Challenge yourself to shoot an entire roll at one F-Stop, then switch it up.

3) Put your camera on full manual and adjust the F-Stop on the fly to adjust for light

Don't forget to adjust the shutter speed of your camera to allow for more or less light (faster speeds for more light, slower speeds for less), or you may end up with overexposed or underexposed images. Many digital cameras have a fantastic option called "Aperture Priority Mode" which allows you to choose an F-Stop value and will then adjust your shutter speed automatically. It is worth pointing out that the best conditions for experimenting with aperture are overcast or cloudy days. When faced with bright or low light, your options for F-Stop values will become limited.

Of course, the best way to improve your photographic skills is to continually take pictures. Get out there and find those photographs!
